Crushing It!: How Great Entrepreneurs Build Their Business and Influence—and How You Can, Too

Blunt, good advice that makes you think about additional ways you can build your business’ social media presence.
There is probably no one that understands social media better than Gary Vee. He is a practitioner, not just a CEO. There are several case studies in the book from entrepreneurs who were inspired by his book Crush it ten years ago. He devotes a section to each of the main social media platforms. He also points the way to the future (voice-first), which motivated me to download some Alexa skills and finally figure out how all that works. Whether you are an intrapreneur (he says they need personal brands to), entrepreneur, or just enjoy learning more about social media, you'll like this book, especially if you are already a Gary Vee fan.
Vaynerchuk reviews key points from his previous best-seller, Crush It!, in this book, building with many experiences from followers of his plan for starting up a successful brand.
His enthusiasm is infectious, and someone with even the tiniest idea will feel empowered by the steps that Vaynerchuck lays out here.
The first part of the book reviews Crush It! and intersperses the details with examples from actual businesses. The second part goes into detail on different "pillars" of social media: Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and a few new ones.
I'm a songwriter, with some songs that I think are worth selling. I got some concrete ideas from Vaynerchuk that I plan to put into place over the next few months.

Being published in 2018 some of things said are dated but the stories of entrepreneurs are inspiring nevertheless
I read this book when it first came out, and not long after I started exploding in social media. I had a major set back in 2019, so I decided to read this book again, and it’s ignited my passion to crush it all over again.
I didn't read Crush It! but I don't feel like you have to to get meaning and value out of this book. It's a quick read with knowledgeable advice from a trusted source, with tons of stories from others that have "crushed it."
I could see how some might view the narrator as intense or cocky, which Garvy Vee completely owns up to, but I also feel that the valuable information in here is too good to pass up--though I didn't find the author to be over-the-top, just himself.
What I loved most about this self-help book was the honest motivation Gary has throughout the book. Basically, it's you got to do the work to be successful so go out and do all the work right now. He's not here for your complaints. And I value that because sometimes we just need a kick in the pants to get going.
One of the lines he has is something like you don't need to go read another book before you start your business if you follow the advice of this one right. And that's not a cocky thing, it's a you-can't-keep-procrastinating-you-just-gotta-do-it kind of thing.
Overall I would recommend this to anyone that has ever picked up a book on entrepreneurship or social media.

I wasn’t terribly impressed with this book. I felt like the majority of the book was talking about Crush It & it wasn’t till the last 1/3 of the book that any thing actionable was discussed. It was bland and felt more like listening to someone boast about themselves, than teach you anything. Very disappointing.
