I didn’t like the writing style, I felt it didn’t flow and there didn’t feel like much of a plot

The style reminded me of Lockwood's No One Is Talking About This, but the voice was less unique and less moving.

I loved this book. I first learned of Jenny Offill from an article she'd written about Mrs. Dalloway (https://www.newyorker.com/books/page-turner/a-lifetime-of-lessons-in-mrs-dalloway) so Mrs. Dalloway was very present for me as I read and I found myself delighted by the joys of reading a stream of consciousness narrative in which I know exactly what's going on because I live in this same world/time. I found the narrator funny and very relatable as she threads her way through her daily existence, shaped by her relationships (with her son, husband, dog, brother, mentor, neighbors, community and a handsome stranger) and the political climate. As a look at American life in 2016, this book was much more satisfying to me than Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver and is interestingly companioned by Bright Precious Things by Gail Caldwell (which I haven't finished reading, but so far, very good).

really interesting way of looking at the everyday. little vignettes which focus on our state of mind, relationships, and the affects of current affairs on the lives we lead. some parts fell flat or i didn’t get them but i really connected to this and thought it was funny and reflective.
