the way I knew it was coming but it was still so unexpected
This book was beautiful. I love Orlaith’s journey so much and she grew a lot in this book. She still has growing to do and I don’t always agree with her decisions but I have faith she will make the right ones in the end. I can’t wait to see where this series goes!
Sarah’s writing is beautiful and she does a perfect job of eliciting all the feelings in me. I haven’t been this obsessed with a series since I first read ACOTAR in 2016. Please give this series a try! The world, the characters, they all have my heart ❤️ ❤️

This book was horrible. It is sad because there are elements of this fantasy world that I love and want to know more about, but I can't continue this series. It has to be self-published and it needs a good editor.
I hate the author's writing. She butchers the English language. She may think she is writing fancy, but I picture her with a thesaurus coming up with bizarre words to use instead of plain English.
Examples are 'Choke on sips of breath' and 'Sipping smell of blood'. Seriously WTF. I would love to see the author act these out for us.
What is wrong with the good old panting, gasping or even hyperventilating? The only sipping of air I have read about is something singers do, and you would not be doing it after drowning.
The other one that stood out for me was 'catastrophic shade of black' LMAO. Because saying his eyes went completely black is not black enough apparently.
What these weird words did for me was pull me out of the story, so I found myself skipping paragraphs of words that made no sense.
Orlaith is a pathetic character similar to Bella from Twilight. She is so dumb and makes the most ridiculous choices. It got to the stage where the author would spell out what she shouldn't do and then she would do it. I was rolling my eyes through the entire book. The author dragged it out longer by taking so long to describe everything in the weirdest way possible.
The choices of all the characters were not believable. Why did Cainon keep letting her leave? He acted like he was angry, but then she would do it every night.
The amount of time Orlaith spends cutting herself, her palm, fingers, neck, ripping stuff out of her, she would have horrific scars, but that was glossed over.
When we finally got to the 'romance' I didn't care anymore. I was disgusted by her behaviour to empower herself screwing some guy in a nightclub. I didn't believe the angst between her and Rhordyn. There wasn’t a good enough reason for him to stay away and let Cainon have her in the first place.
I laughed at the mental breakdown because she was already crazy. I think the author took the 'put your character in the worst position possible' too literally with all the stuff that happened in the last 15%.

Spoiler
I wanted to know why Rhordyn is what he is. That was the only surprise for me. She obviously forgot about Baze and the kid, so that will be in the next book I guess. Why did Orlaith have fangs and want to suck blood too? None of it makes sense.
I’m going to need at LEAST three business days to just take in everything that has been this series so far. Just kinda wanna shout from the rooftops how good this is. Sigh* I really need that next book in my life!

I just loved this. I love the broody males and the mysterious way the fates work!! I love all the characters and how they interact. Though I really want to know what’s going on in Barhari right now!!

I THOUGHT THIS WAS A TRILOGY
I really want to love this series but there’s just SO MUCH going on. Some of the story lines here seemed like filler, a lot of jumping around.
