This just may be the first book I’ve ever wanted to rate higher than 5 ⭐️ . It was utter perfection. So many questions were answered in this book! I also loved Orlaith’s self reflection and personal growth. Shes starting to heal from her trauma and let go of some of that self hatred (such a relief!). Thankfully, though, her feistiness and determination are only getting stronger. Sarah continues to wow me with her imagery, world building, and character depth. This was truly a life changing read and certainly in running for my book of the year.

Hallelujah, this series finally took a good turn XD

I liked book 3 the best of all of the books so far! It's still a bit dark, but had no glaring issues for me like books 1 and 2 did. I'm so glad at the way this story is shaping up. Book 2 was ROUGH but this one is way better. I'm excited to keep reading.

It took me a min, but once I got into the groove of this book, I couldn’t stop.

So many things, so little time.

The downfall and my favourite part of this series is you have to read every sentence. If you skip something, you will miss out on something.
The other beauty and downfall is, or maybe I’m dumb, but somethings I just can’t understand.
Did it happen for real
Did it happen in her mind
Is this just a metaphor

I have no idea. But I kinda love it?

Either way, this whole series is very intriguing.
I love every character
The emotions are so deep
And some chapters are delusional

I cannot wait for the next one!

6 stars. Absolutely devastating. I need book 4!!!!!!

While I enjoyed this book, I wish Orlaith had more strength by now and stopped punishing herself for things that are clearly not her fault.

I figured Rhordyn had survived.

I wish that by now, we had more of the secrets spilled.

Fuck Cainon. He's a fucking prick. Fuck the High Septum chick. Hopefully, they will die next book.

I'm sad for Baze and the boy. I'm hoping nothing bad happens to them...

But also I'm so fucking ready for the lore and the secrets to be spilled.

Tbh this book took me a month because I got over the poetic writing style and Orlaith being so weak all the fucking time.

I just love this series so much. So beautifully written and every book is better than the last. Can't wait for the next book.

TL,DR: This is a VERY DARK CHARACTER DRIVEN FANTASY. If you want a book that focuses on plot and has bright points and major character growth this is not for you. I would NOT compare this to ACOTAR (or anything by SJM). have so many more questions than answers after 3 books. This series is not for me. want to start this review with that because truly did not enjoy this book the way wanted to, but that does not mean it was bad. I actually think it had wonderful writing and intriguing characters. I just really needed SOMETHING positive or bright to happen (I also desperately needed the plot to MOVE). And it basically never did. This is a DARK fantasy. Very very character driven, and the main character is deep deep in her guilt and confusion for basically the whole series so far. Ireally was drawn in by the depths of the characters and complex world and lore that was being built, but this is clearly much too dark and slow moving for me. am accepting that and closing this series here. No spoilers, but if you want to know what's happening in a world, be given a significant amount of lore and understanding, and see lots of plot development, RUN AWAY. This whole series is slow (again, not bad, just not for me, and I felt blindsided). think these first 3 books take place over essentially a month. Which is WILD. Again, the writing is super well done, and there's so much detail and angst and character exploration, but I really needed more than the very slow drip of info that is given to the reader. I apologize if this is a bit ranty, but I'm struggling to put my thoughts into words. I hope this review helps someone. My opinion is also VERY soured by the fact that Amazon marks this as a series of 3 books. It is not. Apparently there will be 6 books.

Overall I enjoy this book but I made a mistake because I should have read the previous books because I couldn’t remember a lot of staff
