This book was everythinggg.
I loved pretty much everything about it. The character development, the pacing, slowly getting more answers and ending up with even more questions, and of course the romance.
God my heart broke for Orlaith in this book. Watching her keep going solely to help other people safe made me love her even more and, this is probably gonna sound fucked up, but I loved the representation of her grief/depression. It didn't feel over done or like it dominated the plot but still felt realistic and honest.
The angst in this book was 👌💯 Waiting to find out Rhordyn was alive, then experiencing him die/pass out over and over again trying to get back to Orlaith, their romantic tension when they finally reunited (god, her guilt and then the one bed trope were *chef's kiss*), finallyyy hooking up only for her to get the plague (the way my brain was screaming at her to wash her hands after going over the wall 💀), just omggg. The "heroine is injured/sick and the MMC goes ballistic" is one of my all time favourite tropes. I only wish we'd gotten to see a bit more of that period from Rhordyn's perspective instead of just from Kai's.
Which brings me to all of the side characters, who I continued to love. An author who can get me hooked not just on the main characters but the supporting ones too is next level, and I feel like I'm invested in everyone in this series. Baze, Kai, Viciou, Zane, Gun, Hattie (ðŸ˜), Kolden, probably a bunch more I can't remember off the top of my head.
I was wrecked reading most of this book but especially the last 30% because I couldn't put it down but the end was coming way too soon.
My only minor issue is the overuse of ellipses. There were so many it got distracting at times.
This book gives me strong Plated Prisoner and ACOTAR vibes, and I'm not sure how I feel about the PP similarities given that Sarah and Raven are good friends. Obviously they just have similar interests in their writing and it's not like the books are identical or anything, but Rhordyn definitely gives strong Slade vibes and the whole "if we do this you're mine forever" speech was very familiar. But PP is one of my all time favourite series and this might be the first fantasy series I've read since that's had me as hooked so I'm not complaining.
This is now one of my favourite fantasy series and I seriously cannot wait for the next book!

Gorgeous! ✨✨
This whole story; the tension, intrigue and the fucking chokehold it has me in.
I love it!
Heard someone call it a Rapunzel retelling, but to me it's so much more - it's so thought out, the attention to detail and how every character we meet is involved in the story, it's just beautiful.
I think the writing is beautiful too, it keeps me on my toes but conveys the world and settings so nicely.
I ache for Orlaith, her hurt throughout all three books is so gut wrenching and I have cried for her so many times! She is fierce, bold and so immensely strong.
Her relation to Rhordyn is just everything! I love them, the pinning is so good!
To me, this series is as good as ACOTAR, which is saying a lot since it's my favorite - but when I feel the characters this deeply, I can't help falling in love with the books.
I can't wait for the fourth book.
