So I was walking through strand the other day and realized although my love of Sade is well known in the goodreads world and outside of it(so the point that Kirk jones sent me a bookplate mentioning Sade), I think no book by him is actually on my shelves although I've read him. So I thought when I saw this on the cheap, I'd read it and fix that.

what I learned when I read this is Sade is really funny. I mean when you read 120 days of sodom you get so distracted by all the rape, murder, and debate about who gets what virgin that you totally miss that sade is a funny funny guy. Well the first novella in this book The magistrate mocked is one of the funniest things that I've read the entire year so far. really it's great. and this is really a quite different Sade I mean no sex is described in the whole book although there is some sex having going on. It's really political and social commentary and satire. It's really fun I recommend it for all those prudes who want to say they've read Sade.

I also conveniently finished this at 11:55 so I don't have to debate if I should lie and say I finished it a day early since I hadn't gone to sleep yet.
