This book was lovely, it took me awhile but I can see why it was a good book and all. I really liked France and I appreciate how the other characters are focused in here as well. Of course there are parts where I would dislike this happening to a child but those are different times.

while the writing was often gorgina the first ~200 pages of the book were really slow and i found it hard to get into. once it picked up, i enjoyed seeing the world through the eyes of little francie and it reminded me a lot of Angela’s Ashes

First time I've read this and what fucking bittersweet gut punch. A perfect story about childhood and wanting time to hurry up and slow down at the same time. I want to hug this book. 😭
