I read the first 10 volumes of this series earlier this year and apparently never got around to reviewing it. Oops.
I picked up this series because some of the teens at my library had been talking about it. I see why they like it too. The artwork is beautiful and the butler's character is so charming that you can't help but be intrigued.
The story is fairly episodic, with small arcs that tend to last several chapters. I actually really prefer these smaller arcs to longer, never-ending stories.
I'm curious to see how the anime compares. Eventually...

I am a Devil of a Butler. I think I am in love already!!
So, I’m finally going to sit down and read Black Butler. It’s been a LONG time coming. It’s a series I’ve always wanted to come back to and have just not found the time.
I’m glad to say that I’m finding the story as engaging as I first did years ago when I came across the anime adaption of the series. The story revolves around a devilish contract between the young master of the Phantomhive estate and his wicked butler. The two engage both paranormal and human threats as Ciel, the young master, attempts to uncover what fate really befell his parents.
It’s definitely interesting and the art is both aesthetic and humorous. There’s a good balance of plot and dialogue with humor and lighthearted banter.
I’m looking forward to finally getting through this series!
