If Isla (or any of the characters) had a personality I might have enjoyed it more, but alas…
I freaking loved this book, and the writing. It was such an enjoyable young adult novel. I loved the different dynamics of the characters, the back story, the different groups of rulers and their people. It was all so fascinating that it drew me in completely. I hate that I probably have to wait so long for the second book, but I am overjoyed that I got to go on this ride. I worried that it would be too much like the hunger games, but this was absolutely different. The centennial wasn’t for sport or entertainment, it was for survival. There were so many twists and turns that I enjoyed, so much originality and the main character was actually fun to follow. She was truly a dynamic character full of promise and flaws. I loved her! I am curious to see where the story will develop further.

I like how it was a mystery of who was the villain, I was suspicious of everybody at one point or another. I like how the love story portion of it was not all consuming and how it didn’t make everything else seem insignificant.
I read the reviews after finishing this book and didn't realize there was so much controversy with the author of this book. So, going into this book blind, I thought it was fine. Nothing was ground breaking, everything was very vague, and it seemed like the description of the land and the characters were very lack luster or non-existent. There were some portions that felt unnecessarily long and dragged out. The writing isn't great at all, but I still found the book enjoyable enough.
It was a quick read, I found it fun and just enjoyed the vibes. I think Grim taking Isla's memories away were dumb of him, but I also dont see how Isla could fall in love with Oro so quickly when they literally had no chemistry together even when they spent months with each other looking for the heart. So im still team Grim all the way.

A very quick read with lots of things happening that kept me interested. Definitely a twist I didn't see, and another I was speculating about for some time. Not sure how I felt about the FMC, but she didn't annoy me so that was good. I will definitely read the second one.
