1819 Rosalind Thorne has been asked by Mrs Walford to investigate Horatio Slater, suitor to her heiress daughter Augustina. But soon she has her own personal problems when her father, Sir Reginald Thorne, escapes the confines of her sister Charlotte’s home. What trouble can he, a drunk and forger, now bring down on his two daughters. But then Sir Reginald is murdered, and Bow Street Runner friend Adam Harkness investigates with the help of Rosalind.
An entertaining and well-written historical mystery with its cast of likeable and interesting characters. Another good addition to the series.
