oh boy this was a long book. It took me a while to get the plot going in my head. the situation of the characters really intrigued me and made me want to know more about them. The number of pages this book was is crazy. but for me it didn't feel long after a while.

Okay, I just want to say that I was kinda disappointed when I finished the last page. Like, I would've liked it better if the author wrote more things about their future but instead,  the ending just feels unfinished.
Jolene: I was a bit annoyed by Jo sometimes. Like the stupid decisions she made during the book literally got me shouting at her big head. Although, I loved her dry personality and her funny jokes and the way she doesn't care of what anyone thinks of her.
Adam: I thought Adam was very sweet and caring during some parts but could also be a bit hot-headed and tense. He could be very thoughtful to Jo but could also be a jerk to his Dad/brother.
In conclusion, this book was a cute little romance but I probably won't ever think about it again and won't recommend it to anyone.

This was a very very hard read. I'm used to happy light hearted romance book and this definitely was not. It took me longer to read that usual.

But i think I loved it. I loved how real it was, I've never read book where every moment felt real and relatable to me. I LOVED the characters and I understood why they loved each other.

Heartbreaking and beautiful. Great Read!

I came into this story without much knowledge of the plot. I heard good things about the book, so jumped in mostly blind.

I thought this was strictly a YA romance novel. It is so much more than that.

The story centers around Jolene and Adam; both finding themselves involved in issues developed within their families. However, they both are vastly different. While one family is cracked due to grief, the other is unrepairable and full of spite. As the story progresses, we get to see both characters grow not only their feelings and their definition of love, but grow as young teens while dealing with some complicated emotions.

I come from a divorced family,  so I may be biased in how much I enjoyed the story. However, I thought it did a good job of bringing the emotions of the characters to the reader.

Trigger warning - there are mentions of toxic relationships, eating disorders, alcoholism, as well as sexual assault.

I loved how Jolene and Adam both grew throughout the book and it just wasn't one thing but a thing they learned to go through together that made them stronger.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster and had me crying almost every other chapter, but I just couldn't put it down. The characters were realistic and relatable, and I love their development over the course of the book. There were a lot of difficult subjects broached in this book, but Johnson definitely handled them well. Also, I couldn't ask for a better ending than that!
I do, however, think that the book was a little longer than it needed to be. The flow felt stagnant at parts and I felt the whole thing could be cut down a little. Either way, though, it was an amazing read!
