DNF.
I received the ARC back in 2021 and decided to finally pick it up this week because I wanted a fun / escapist book to read and this… was not it. Not sure who these award-winning authors were but it did not shine through in the writing.

I would rate the collection of stories in the book 3/5 stars. But the concept gives it the other star.

The first short story in this book was awesome and had me hooked. After that, it’s a bunch of little short stories that barely mention any element of sex let alone anonymous sex. I just find myself zoning out completely and I don’t have a desire to push through another 300 pages of this if all the stories are not even going to come close to what the first one was.

I tried to ignore all the low star reviews and give it a try. I read a lot of erotica/romance/sifi but this book was quite simply a let down. I know each story is anonymous but some of the stories are hard to wrap your mind around or just plain weird. Some are short and some long. This is my first anthology I’ve ever read and I like the concept even the topic but this one is a no for me.

Some of these were really good and powerful, but most of them were like very heteronormative, fairly vanilla short stories about sex and heterosexual love. A lot of hyper academic characters and like intense language to describe the mundane. Like again, some of these stories are really powerful, but not most of them.
This was a missed opportunity imo to explore what sex can mean in other contexts - not heterosexual or monogamous sex could have been interesting. And some of it was just tough.
Love the idea of it and I did enjoy it, but i definitely really tried to be edgy and i don't think it succeeded

I picked this up solely because of the title. It was at the library. I couldn't not grab the book named Anonymous Sex.
So this is a set of anthologies without an author tied to each of the stories. This means though for me, I really did not like some of the author's writing styles. The others were alright. I think overall, this book was way too avant-garde for me.
This feels like it was more meant to be literature and commentary on sex itself rather than a set of stories about anonymous sex. The title and synopsis is probably the biggest problem. It sets up an expectation and you get something entirely different.
There's one short that has continuous run on sentences which I can only assume was on purpose. Another entry is written entirely in the second person which was very jarring. I can only assume who the author thought would be reading this book but it wasn't me.
The only entry that I kind of liked was Find Me. It felt most like what I was expecting when I picked up this book.
Also I hate reading the line, her labia ached.

A great mix of stories so something for everyone. I loved the different mix of genres and preferences so you can dip in. And out depending on what you are after.

The most recent pick for the Baddie Book Club, Anonymous Sex was an anthology of erotic stories from 27 different authors. It was a mix of stories with the goal to get you hot & heavy, but also some that touched on topics in less of an erotic manner.
Out of the 27 anonymous stories, I had 6 favorites:
History Lesson
Find Me
Rapunzel, Rapunzel
Tomorrow Morning
Posseeblay
Vis-à-Vis 1953
