"All such conflict is a thing of the past. There is peace on Earth, good will toward app humankind. Except..."

I did not expect to love this book as much as I did. Once I started reading, it sucked me in and captivated my essence in all the best ways possible. I loved Citra and her determination; I hated Goddard and his corruption, and I eagerly read through all the twists the story took.
Scythe is an intriguing book on the corruption of humanity, semi-frequently contrasting the human-run scythedom to the Thunderhead-run civilian society. There were so many moments that just left me starting at a wall, processing the emotionally wrenching scenes. But even with the darkness throughout the story, there were still moments I couldn't help but laugh. It was a nice reprieve from the heaviness of most of the story.

Probably one of my favorite reads of 2024. The characters, world and prose are so so well done. Can’t wait to read the next one!

I read this for my book club and oh.... my... god at the half way point our weekly meeting reached 2+ hours the 3rd meeting had to have a cap on it 🙃. It delves into topics I haven't thought about except in my deepest moments of intrusive thoughts. Honestly it was a horrifyingly good book and despite being able to be YA I dont reccomend younger teens to be reading this especially if they have stuff going on. There were plenty of funny and interesting and even some loving moment but just my brain cant get over all the questions a lot of the journal entries brought up. Something I will say is that it was extremely good, extremely well written and it might even have a presence on you even after you're done with it.
