I had issues with this book at first and felt the authors spent more time talking about their passionate dislikes than passionate likes. However, the latter chapters of the book where they discussed community were incredible with “Derby Veteran,” especially weighing on me as a healthcare worker.
Overall I loved this book about niche sport and finding yourself. You don’t need to be into derby (I myself knew next to nothing of it) to take something powerful and prescient from it.
