Delightfully creepy little retelling of The Fall of the House of Usher by way of Mexican Gothic (the similarities to which the author does address in the author’s note). While they have similar premises, they’re different enough in setting and characters to justify reading (and enjoying) both!

I adored this protag; I could’ve gladly spend 100 more pages just learning about the soldiers, their culture, and their home country.

Very curious what the next book holds
