I wasn't sure what to rate this. It is an exploration of postpartum depression and the cycle of abuse. I found it to be incredibly heavy but I also hated Blythe. I did not think she took any accountability for her own actions and their consequences. At some points I found the book to be misogynistic and I thought there were too many irrelevant references to breasts/children's genitals. I think if you have issues with body image this would not be a good read for you. Check TWs as this book is chock-full of triggering things that I found hard to enjoy as a reading experience but I think it was an important story to be told. This was outstanding for a debut and I finished it in a day.

This book made me genuinely so uncomfortable at times, and even though it was predictable i read it in a day and just could not put it down. And i loved the addressing her husband thing a lot.

HOWEVER. The author is VERY weird about sexuality at times (especially at the gallery and about breasts in general), it just keeps repeating the same stuff over and over, literally no one but Gemma is lovable or even tolerable in the whole book, and it’s just. overall extremely “meh”.

I definitely would recommend it to people but like, most of these reviews get the expectations HIGH. it wasnt worth the hype (even though i absolutely enjoyed it too)

wowowow this book is insane. I was skeptical at first but it draws you in in a way you don’t expect. The ending was both open ended and darkly rewarding.

The plot of this book made me second guess myself so many times. It was great.
I appreciated the dark view into motherhood, not the sunshine and rainbows most people write about it.
The moment I realized the title of the book and its relevance to Violet.....I almost scream....

I liked the darkness of this book, but the horrific events that took place were ultimately too much for me.
