I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I found it difficult to put down. And now I’ve added Husker Du (who I’ve always enjoyed) to my “morning walk” Spotify playlist.

I’ve never read anything like this book.

I’m gonna be real fam I spent 99% of this book thinking it was gonna be a 3 star but then the ending had me yelling and hollering.

The thing I love about Paul Tremblay is that, not only does he tell great stories, but his novels and short stories are often also about how one can go about telling a story. I don't remember ever having read a story told exactly this way.

A strange coincidence - after I began this book, I started watching a series called Lore and the first episode was about the real Mercy Brown.

I have no idea what I just read, but I lived for the formating and dual perspectives. The novel/scratch/memoir markups kept me going when I wanted to tap out. I needed more of the actual Pallbearers Club, than the strange "friendship" that followed after it though. I feel like it was a lost opportunity to take this plotline to a much darker place. Plus, I found myself finishing the last page ending with waaaaaay more questions than one should to feel satiated.
