This poetic text is sandwiched between information about UNCRC, United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Nice enough, though the song metaphor is a bit confusing.

The book explores the UN's work to improve the lives of all children around the world. At the front of the book, there is an explanation of what the UN do to protect children. The book then explains how when each child is born, a song begins and they need love and protection for it to continue and they should not be silenced. A fantastic way of explaining children's rights to them and showing children that even if they live a happy and safe life, this is not true for all children around the world and any need people to protect them. A book I will definitely be using in my classroom, especially in KS2.
