I enjoyed this more than I thought. I like how much politics it had in the story. I will probably continue the series!
Thank you NetGalley! For an adult Romantasy debut with such an intriguing plot I went in very excited. I loved the politics, the solid world building, the soul love/soul hate aspect which was very unique and the tension in the last half of the book was sooo delicious. However it really was one of those worlds that took ages to get into and I did struggle with some of the language. Lots of modern language but also an accent world took me out of the fantasy.
All in all it was an enjoyable read and one for people who love politics over romance in fantasy, but a brilliant debut and would read more from the author.

This is a fun read. The plot was well paced and structured, and most of the characters were likeable. The two MCs were definitely likeable and well rounded.
It was a little predictable, but I still enjoyed the ride. I'd prefer it as a standalone but I think there will be a sequel based on the ending.
I loved the concept of a soul mate and a soul hate, someone you feel a visceral hatred for upon sight. A refreshing concept! The more I think on it, the plot was very well paced and, well, plotted. Lol
We are not just told about MCs strengths but shown as well which is great.
Well written, enjoyable political intrigue. Imo the romance is secondary. the romance with tbe first guy is way more fleshed out than with Idris. I still root for them ofc but would have like to see more one on one time. Also seems unsatisfying they still feel the hate part still
Anyway yes recommend if you like a fun political YA.

Hannah Kingsley delivers a compelling and unique fantasy with Soul Hate, weaving political intrigue, fate-driven conflict, and deeply emotional storytelling into a fascinating world. Easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Renza di Maineri stands out as a protagonist. Instead of the familiar rebellious outcast that we typically see in books, Renza is a politician (so interesting!)— she’s young, determined, and navigating the challenges of leadership while trying to step out of her father’s shadow. Her journey is already complex, but it becomes even more volatile when she discovers her Soulhate: Idris Patricelli, her greatest rival and the person she is fated to kill. The tension between them is palpable, and their dynamic adds a captivating layer to the political stakes of the story.
The Soulmate vs. Soulhate concept is a fresh take on fate-driven narratives, and Kingsley executed is so well!

Needs a better editor for all the little spelling/grammar mistakes but i really liked this book
This book was a 3.75 for me. I read it super quickly, but I feel like it was extremely predictable which I do not really enjoy. I feel like I am really easy to please as a reader, I always give 4-5 stars and hardly rate books lower than a 4. But this one I could see the ending from a mile away. I really enjoyed the concept of everyone having a soulhate and a soulmate but I felt like there could have been a better twist likkkke Idris is the soulhate and soulmate, that would have been something I did not expect coming. I liked all the characters and felt that they were all very likable, I did have issues with the character arc of the FMC, Renza. I feel like she was supposed to be this super smart bad *ss politician who got elected to the government at 16 but was so easily tricked by the villain. I felt for how smart she was supposed to be she should have caught all the red flags. There were moments where things were blatantly obvious, and she did not see it until she overheard the entire evil plan. Even when she was being tricked, she was so naive and easy to control it drove me insane. But I feel like even with her grief the way her character was supposed to be that her sense of justice would be amplified with her grief. Instead, she allowed someone to make decisions for her and enact their evil whims. The love stories that began to bloom towards the end made the book more bearable and I felt that Renza was starting to get her fire back and stopped acting so impulsively.
I am not sure Kingsley's writing style is my thing; she spent way too long in every moment describing the building or area they were in, and it was paragraphs worth. I find that annoying and boring. I do not need you to spend 3 paragraphs describing plants and windows. I cannot tell if this was a standalone or first book as it ends open ended but I would read the next book, but I definitely won't be rushing to read it.
Thank you NetGalley and One More Chapter for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This came with my Forbidden Wing subscription. It took me months to even start this book. I’m mostly a mood reader but when a plot pulls me in, it pulls me in. Unfortunately, this is not that book for me. Just couldn’t get into the plot in this book. Soul Hate has a cool twist on the fated-enemy trope with immersive political world-building and a morally complex premise. But I really, really struggled with connecting to the romance, the characters, pacing, and the emotional parts! Moral of the story, I don’t particularly enjoy political drama, especially when I couldn’t even connect with the characters.

Ummm... No... the fact that she instantly went and thought it was a date when he asked her to catch up put me off. Nowhere was it mentioned that she had a crush on him, she just briefly noticed he became attractive but thats it. No normal conversation will make something its a date when a friend ask to catch up, he also never gave her a hint that he finds her attractive.
