I read this when I got COVID in 2021 so my answer is definitely affected by that. However, even then, this book is the perfect example of "more words does not equal a better story". Dickens was paid by the word, so I guess it makes sense if he needed the money back then, but still, it was just a slog of confusing and elaborate phrases to push through. I was forced to read this anyways, otherwise I definitely would have dropped this past chapter 2.

Also, doesn't Charles Darnay feel like a self-insert of Dickens? The perfect, nice-guy who becomes the hero in the end?

Just me?
