It was ok at the very best, even though I was obsessed with the first two books.
This book has brought me into a reading slump. It starts off somewhat strong. The middle is.. lacking. Repetitive, boring, literally nothing is happening and if I read one more sentence about Kieran being annoyed at Poppy asking questions I will lose it. The dialogue became extremely repetitive and annoying, including some of Cas' and Poppy's.
The ending? Mostly expected but it was definitely the silver lining.

I enjoyed the plot but I guess my main issue was the lack of balance. A lot of the time Poppy and Casteel were either having very important talks or erm “doing it”. I’m sure that maybe I’m the only who thought this but I really did find the spice repetitive and boring and some point I just wanted them to get out of each others pants. It was a nice book overall but the book would we way shorter if you got rid of the spice….

okay i’ve been waiting for this since akofaf came out and it’s definitely not my favorite book from this series BUT POPPYS CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT???? from being a quiet maiden, all the way to someone who speaks up for herself AND IS ALSO A QUEEN ANDDD A GOD?????? poppy my beloved jts true...
at times it was really slow for me since i could’ve easily finished this in less than two days,.. but I DIDNT .. mostly because a lot of it was fillers for me BUT THAT ENDING WAS SO GOOD.. the plot twist of who her real father was and discovering her true heritage was insane to me especially WHO HER REAL MOTHER WAS..
anyways i’m debating if this gonna be a 4.5star rating or a five star bc it was a slower read compared to akofaf but the beginning, the plot twists, and the ending made up for it.

I am slowly beginning to piece together the history of this world. So much changed from the flesh and fire series to this series and now that it’s involving more of the gods and the prophecy, I am less confused. I’m kinda amazed at how much book the writer gets out of such a little narrative timeline, like all that really happened was Poppy getting to Atlantis and finally taking the crown but so much happened still. I’m eager to see how the rest of the prophecy unfolds in the next 3 books
