It took some time to get into but the pace picked up about halfway and was full speed the rest of the way. The first couple plot twists were predictable and I honestly didn't think there would be any more but then some more twists come out of nowhere.
I like seeing Poppy develop in this book, but she honestly seems overpowering at this point and it's less enjoyable to read. I'm reading the story more for Casteel and the future of the kingdoms than for Poppy. I'm not invested in her, but rather the past she represents.

Definitely picking up the pace
This book was much better than the other two, although with one issue (for me). It started off pretty good, but seriously, the amount of sex scenes was obnoxious. I get it, no one's ever made so and so feel this way, etc etc, but get on with the story already. And the whole "I love you, you're worthy" bit could've been dialed down to maybe 2-3 times. The last 100 pages or so were the most interesting and made me want to get the next book, only to find out it doesn't come out until next year. Oh well. I enjoyed reading Poppy's badassery develop and look forward to reading the ending (hopefully it doesn't get dragged on to more books).

SO slow and with a lot of unnecessary detail but picks up right at the end and had me turning pages as fast as I could. Armentrout’s pacing is always questionable.
