This far into this series, I don't know what else to say other than horrible crimes happen and Eve and the team are on the case. I have such weird feelings about this whole series because these crimes are just disgustingly awful and I'm over here feeling wonderful about the whole things because I'm with Eve, Rourke, Peabody, and all the rest! :) It's a weird way to feel about a crime procedural, but it feels like coming home!

i liked this one. at first i admired the murderer but “lady justice” was just cringey. i read a lot of books from this kind of murderer’s perspective where they go and kill bad people bc the system failed them. so it was interesting to see this side, eve’s side.

Mystery was kind of predictable - not the same high caliber this series usually has. Character plots/storylines were enjoyable as ever though.

I have to confess – I have never read any of the “In Death” books – which is something I’m going to rectify immediately. This is book number forty-nine in the series. Because of that, there is a lot of background that I was missing. And because of that, I had a a little trouble “getting” some of the character dynamics. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. I knew “whodunnit” by the middle of the book, but it was still nice to see how the story played out.
What I liked: The “futuristic” aspect of the story was fun with androids and (I assume) flying cars. I loved Roarke – Eve’s husband – and their couple dynamic. The scene around page 215 with them talking about childbirth was hilarious – as in Eve would rather face a serial killer than go through that.
What I didn’t like: as mentioned above, I hadn’t read any of the previous books so the character dynamics didn’t work well because I had no idea who they were and what had happened in the past. But there were enough clues to let me know a little.
Recommendation: If you’ve read others in the series, definitely pick this one up! It’s deep and dark and thrilling with a satisfying ending. If you haven’t read any, I suggest you start with earlier ones. You can read this and enjoy it, but without the background, you won’t get the full Eve Dallas experience.

J.D. Robb never fails to entertain me! Every single book is fantastic and I love delving into Dallas’ world. It felt good to hang out with the usual gang again; Roarke, Peabody, McNab, etc. and watch as Eve struggles to deal with a terrible victim and an even worse killer.

I loved it!! Eve shocked me when she bought up taking a few days and about going to a social event even if it was to catch a killer. Ha ha will she every catch the candy bar thief.
