I absolutely love this book. I first read it in middle school and every time that I've read it since I've fallen in love with something different about it. I totally clung to some scenes and still think that drinking Fireball on a rooftop is the quintessential high school experience even though I have not once done that in high school.

This book breaks your heart again and again and every time it leaves you asking for more heartbreak. This book will stay with me for a very long time.

rereading this now, i remember liking the book when i was 16, but completely forgetting the plot as soon as i finished it. i was in a bad place and i guess i saw myself in laurel (and it didn't raise any red flags lmao)
i wouldn't recommend it really to anyone. it feels like a filler book from the late 2010s of the john green variation. it's nothing new, in fact it tries to be the perks of being a wallflower very often. it adds nothing to the YA genre of not like other girls it tries to be, except its stylistic promise of being told to us via love letters written to dead people.

okay this book was a rollercoaster of emotions. laurel is for some reason so relatable to me(?) but yet she's so different. she seems like she's in a rush to find herself and at the same time trying to become someone she's not and i thought that was so cool!!
anyways, i loved the concept of the book and the story was so so good and written in a way that makes you want to devour it in one sitting.
BUT i should warn anyone who wants to read that there are many mentions of drugs/alcohol/rape/abuse/etc. so beware!
