was more invested in the side characters, who felt more well rounded at times, than i was chloe and shara, but it was still enjoyable. didn’t expect it to go in the direction it did (ie chloe and shara actually getting together), but i did call rory and smith from the beginning and think they’re both cute as hell. chloe was kind of annoying at times (same with shara but she was so much worse), but thats essentially the point of her character, since she’s a different version of shara, if shara grew up in a more accepting environment. did appreciate the john green reference though, bc that was all i could think about while reading this. its basically about finding the manic pixie dream girl except sapphic. i wish it did more in terms of the mystery and character arcs bc they felt half baked at times and predictable. though, this book is unapologetically queer, which i did like.

Wow, I inhaled this book. I needed to know the answer just as much as Chloe (and I’m so pumped I figured stuff out before it was revealed). I started off not liking most of the characters, but they really grew on me as their complex stories unfolded. Because McQuiston really did write a ton of complex, incredibly human characters. I really loved it.
