This is the first book of this series I’ve read. How I ended up this being the first for me is totally strange yet it opened my eyes about a series I was missing. This story just tears me up at every turn. This author knows how to make the characters not only come to life but to make me invested in finding out what happens to them. Markos appears so withdrawn from feelings and relationships that I just wanted anything good to happen to him. Star is so in denial that she isn’t aware of the bad things happening and around her. As these two get together there are times I had to laugh and more times I wanted to cry. The author did a good job with the secondary characters. I understand they have their own stories before this one and I plan on reading them. I didn’t really feel lost by not having read them. I think the author did a great job of giving me enough about them to get a feeling for them. This is a series I’d recommend. It has good flow to the story. I didn’t want to put it down. It has characters that you can both love and somewhat hate.
