One of the best books in the series so far. I love how charmingly funny they are, and this book took a trope I hate, and made me love it. The plot was fast and fun, and its excellent watching Miles flounder about constantly getting caught in drama.
Miles himself is at his most manic and fun this book, a little ball of anxiety, stress, inferiorority complexes and sass. Really love him. I think I've worked out that if Ivan shows up I'm gonna have a good time. I love his relationship to Miles as well as his just casualness and obliviousness to all thats going around.
I also loved seeing Miles relationship to Elli grow, as well as his new bonds with "Mark" who was a fantastic new character in the series.
I also loved how this tied into Ethan of Athos, which was one of my fav stories in the series. Love how expansive and political this world is while still being super fun.

Hijinks abound in this one! I needed this for a reading bingo card for the year of my birth (1989) so had to skip some prior books in the series. While there were references I didn't catch, I wasn't too confused and had a blast reading about Miles trying to balance his Barrayaran identity of Lord Vorkosigan with his Admiral Naismith one. His relationship with Elli developed in a fun way, and I loved how . Captain Galeni was a great new character as well.
I continue to adore Grover Gardner as Lois McMaster Bujold's narrator. He perfectly matches his tone to her sly humor.

Another Miles Vorkosigan adventure - this one did not disappoint. I love knowing that I still have a good-sized handful of these ahead of me for reading. :)

This story went in a direction I was not expecting at all, which made for a very engaging read. It is nice to see Miles maturing a little, and I appreciate that he leans toward compassion when possible.
