This was a fun, dual perspective, fake dating, road trip, only one bed, sapphic romance that was full of heart and lots of chemistry.

Trying to avoid going to her brother's wedding solo, Lia's best friend Rosie (from Read between the lines) enlists her other friend Grace to pose as Lia's girlfriend. While in England Lia and Grace fight their instant attraction, knowing nothing long term would be possible with each of them living on different continents.

But when a surprise DNA result reveals Grace has a half sibling back in America she never knew about, she decides to go home to meet this woman and confront the ghosts of her past. Wanting to be supportive, Lia goes along and these two have a fun road trip getaway that brings them even closer.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series but I think this one was even better with the romance and the family background storyline. Grace has a lot of baggage from her past, having lost her parents in a car crash when she was only 17. There was also great bisexuality rep (Lia) and while not stated, Grace definitely seemed demisexual - she wasn't interested in romantic relationships (until Lia came along of course).

Perfect for fans of Delilah Green doesn't care or Count your lucky stars and great on audio narrated by Zara Hampton-Brown, who does an excellent job with both the British and American accents of the two main characters. Highly recommended!

Fake dating at a wedding segues into a road trip ending in a life-changing encounter in this engaging love story from Rachel Lacey. This is the second book in the Ms. Right series, but it could easily be read as a standalone novel. In the end, this book is somewhere between 4 and 5 stars for me.

The characters’ motivations behind their actions are very believable. My heart broke for both main characters. More than anything, I wanted Grace to come to terms with her baggage and to realize that Lia is who she needs in her life.

I loved how Lia’s strength and straightforwardness balance Grace’s passion. I liked how, even though they have an almost instant chemistry upon meeting, both Lia and Grace consider the various repercussions a relationship between them may have, and how, ultimately, although they worry about how it will impact their mutual best friend, Rosie, she is supportive of both no matter what they decide.

I appreciated the strong friendships and the support and candidness of Lia’s sister and grandfather and of Grace’s paternal grandparents.

Lia and Grace both support each other in different ways, but be aware that Grace’s struggles in opening up and her one step forward, two steps back approach to emotional and physical intimacy with Lia is heart-wrenching to witness.

Lacey does a great job depicting how misunderstandings and not having complete information can impact one’s path and one’s life.

At a glance:
- Dual POV
- Bi FMC + demisexual lesbian FMC
- Mutual best friend
- Fake dating
- Only one bed
- Opposites attract
- Road trip
- Open door

Content warnings: grief, bisexual erasure, deceased parents

Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

They were both so excruciating and I wish they weren't together by the end. The first was so much better.

No Rings Attached follows Lia and Grace on an adventure of favors. Meeting finally through a mutual friend, Grace agrees to be Lia’s fake girlfriend for a family wedding. The chemistry is undeniable but Grace has a golden rule- she doesn’t date. Maybe it’s that Lia isn’t a close friend or maybe it’s the connection and her ability to be calm and listen that allows Grace to open up about the past she’s been running from since childhood. The novel is the second of the series but an easy stand alone book that gives the perfect balance of building friendships, facing your fears, falling in love and just a little bit of steam. Rachel Lacey does a wonderful job at building characters that are quirky and relatable while being realistic in her plot.

i hate to give a rachel lacey book 3 stars, but this one just didn’t do it for me :( rosie and jane were much more compelling than lia and grace, especially because grace just seemed very whiny for most of the book. also, the ending was… rushed? it was a good book though, don’t get me wrong

The chemistry was very good. Grace was an amazing character who made me feel genuine connection to her.

However Rosie's constant insistence on romance just because she is personally a hopeless romantic bothered me too much. It felt like she misunderstood Grace entirely despite being her best friend for half her life. It just made me feel so sad for Grace.

And I really can't stand such overdramatic life changing plot twists to bring the characters back together at the end of the stories. It just seemed so unnecessary, the conflict could have been resolved without something out of the Grey's Anatomy episode. This shouldn't be the reason.

I enjoyed Grace and Lia's relationship regardless, they really do fit together from the start despite all the complications.
