I loved this steamy NYC romance between two nerdy board game loving main characters! Harriet and Luke meet as strangers on a plane, having hot sex and then parting ways only to discover that Luke's brother is marrying Harriet's sister and they have to spend a lot of time together helping with the wedding.

Harriet was so easy to relate to - she loves escaping in books but feels like she hasn't been very adventurous so far and takes on a Harriet 2.0 persona to get out of her comfort zone. I loved how Luke was so supportive of Harriet's dream to open a board game café and helped her find ways to explore the city (and her sexuality) that didn't cause her anxiety to flare up.

Highly recommended, especially for anyone who loves board games as much as I do or needs some inspiration to take a chance on following a dream. This is the third book in Jen Morris's Love in the City series but it can be read as a standalone book just fine. Heads up for anyone who loves Harry Potter and Star Wars references, there are a LOT in this book and I enjoyed every single one!

CW: anxiety, self-harm, divorce

This book leaves me speechless. I need a few days to regroup. I'm ruined for all other books at the moment.
Harriet is quiet and keeps to herself. That is until she is out one night with her friend Steph and she can't seem to come up with one outrageous thing she's done. Embarrassed, she decides to say yes to her sister who wants her to travel to New York City and be her maid of honor in her wedding. Terrified Harriet gets on the plane and meets Luke by falling into his lap trying to get in her seat. She decides to be Harriet 2.0 and tell Luke she loves adventure and has been skydiving. One thing leads to another and the two have sex on the plane.
This book was by far my favorite romcom this year. I absolutely loved the banter between Harriet and Luke. I've also read this series other books so I love the other characters as well. This one is my favorite though. I'll definitely be reading this one again and I never reread books

Outrageously In Love • Jen Morris ⭐️ - 4.5 stars

I adored Harriet and her plan to have a vacation version of herself and then I turn became a better more confident version of herself!
The road game cafe idea is such an awesome idea! I definitely would want to go to one in real life!

This is the second book I’ve read from her Love in the City series. This one is my favorite of the two I’ve read so far and I will be reading the rest!!
Star Wars, Harry Potter, Board Games, joining the mile high club, and falling in love with the best man in your sister’s wedding… yeah, you HAVE to check this book out. It’s amazing.

This did not have the same spark as the priors in the series, and I found the hook of "pretending to still be married" unnecessary and problematic. Her high school issues were dropped in unconnected and I really didn't like how it was handled, and I really just disliked their relationship. And I love geeky love interests!

What a fantastic read from Jen Morris! Outrageously in Love continues the Love in the City series, but you absolutely do not need to read the first books in order to read this one.

Jen does a perfect mix between reader, gamer, and cafe lover in this book, and I adore the relationship dynamics. Harriet is from New Zealand, visiting New York for her sisters wedding. She meets Luke on the plane, and lets just say it was a wonderful flight. What they thought was a chance encounter between strangers, never to be seen again… they’re in for a ride! I legit gasped at the end of chapter 9, too. Ah!

Emotions are high leading up to the big day, on all accounts. Alex and Michael are busy with work and dealing with Michaels ex. Harriet helps her sister manage stress by finishing the wedding tasks, with the help of the best man of course.

The ending played out half the way I was expecting. All in all, a great romantic comedy, and worth a read.

This book warmed my heart, made me blush, and had me laughing out loud at various points while reading. Harriet and Luke are a sweet pairing — I think Luke might be my favorite LITC boyfriend (and that’s absolutely doesn’t have anything at all to do with him being inspired by my favorite actor Casey Deidrick….. alright it might have a tiny bit to do with it!) He’s soft, sexy, supportive, and A HUGE NERD and I absolutely loved him. I also really enjoyed Harriet and felt very connected to her - I too also suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and have spent most of my life with my nose in a book, so living vicariously through her little adventures was fun.

I loved revisiting other characters from the first two LITC books; I do think it would’ve been nice to see more of a dynamic between Harriet and others besides her and Alex and her and Luke - we got little snippets of it via Geoff saving her at the wedding and her conversations with Steph but I personally would’ve liked a little more, since this is a series that does revisit past characters.

One other thing I also would’ve liked or wish would’ve been a little different is the conflict. While I think could be read on its own without reading the first two, because I have read the first two, it was a little repetitive that Mel was one of the main sources for conflict again.

Overall, this was a super cute and fun read, and I can’t wait for the next.

Thank you to the author for this advanced copy (although this review is definitely overdue!); all thoughts and opinions are my own.
