Grief is complex and this book didn't have the depth to handle that topic.
Edit: if I find out the lasagna + milk for dinner mentioned at the end is a Twilight reference, I'm adding half a star to my rating for that Easter egg š¤£
Moderate: Sexual content
Minor: Alcohol, Car accident, and Grief

I'm glad I came across this story, it's a fun small-town romance, taking place at a Renaissance Faire during the summer.
I read this in one day, it was super cute and enjoyable. Emily is a fun protagonist, seeing her bloom and get to know people around her, make friends and let her voice be heard was so nice and heartwarming.
As for Simon, he went through a great character development. I loved how his personality was hidden away at first and how he let it show gradually as he got more comfortable around Emily.
The romance between them was great, it didn't feel forced by the author. However, it was strange that they started as enemies for no reason. I think it could have been more natural if they started as friends, instead of hating each other for no reason on their first encounter.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book so much, it made me want to organise a Renaissance Faire as well, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a fun, easy-to-read small-town romance for summer.

I loved so much that this book cuts off its potential misunderstandings by having characters actually talk to each other. Quite a few things were fairly obvious, and I appreciated that characters actually discovered those things by confronting assumptions.
For all this book is lighthearted and fun, it does deal with some serious topics. Content warnings for grief and death of a sibling, car accident, and toxic relationship (all in the past, not on page). I think all these issues were handled with care, especially the death of Simon's brother, which is the most central to the story.
I enjoyed Emily and Simon's banter, the relationships Emily builds with Stacey, Mitch, and Chris, as well as the sister relationship between Emily and April. I know this is the first in a series, so I'm excited to read the next one and see more of the characters.

I really loved this book. Especially with how books and Shakespeare were a running theme due to the two romantic mcs being Shakespeare nerds.
One of my fave lines is repeated a few times in the book and is one I will always hold near and dear to my heart.
A wonderful read, especially as Iām reading it now as much of it is set in summer through to august so I felt fully involved in it as I Read on
