This felt perfect for what I needed right now. Short related vignettes with a focus on characterization.

I am confused.
I am confused as to why this won the Pulitzer prize. I was so bored, and I had no interest in anything that happened in this book. I had no idea why certain people were featured and why others weren't.

The only reason this is not a one star is that it had one part that I could get through without falling asleep.

Real, intricate, human and flawed. Lots of different characters and their stories connected but still isolated. Olive is truly fascinating because she feels real to me. And I want her to be happy. It subtly creeps up on you as you read. She’s so blunt and prickly.
