I liked this better than the first one and connected better with the characters overall, but this series still doesn’t wow me. The story, romance and characterisation were all solid if not spectacular. I felt the ending was rushed and we got very little of the “what comes next”. There were several loose ends - I really would have liked to have heard more about the subplot with the FMC’s brother. I did enjoy the use of romance tropes as a way for the both the main romance and the FMC’s writing career to progress.

i might have liked this one better than TSLD?!?!?! and i LOVED that book and reread it like immediately after i finished it back in 2021. i absolutely ate this one up. i truly loved both rosie and lucas' characters. like they were so genuine, so likeable, and a little too relatable... i really enjoyed the plot of them faking dates/parts of a relationship to help her with her book - as a sucker for the fake relationship trope, i devoured that part. i think they were both very HOT as well - the shower scene?!!?!? ELENA, I AM IN LOVE.

i wish we had just a *little* more burn as part of the slow burn, but alas i survived on what we got. also, i wish we had gotten more insight on lucas' past, like a hint more, but overall a fantastic read and i cannot wait to read the long game!!!

⚠️: injury/injury detail, dementia, medical trauma, grief, panic attacks/disorders, PTSD, violence, death of parent

I was disappointed after reading this because it fell a bit flat compared to TSLD which I absolutely loved…

I do however LOVE Rosie with all of my heart, she have the best energy and she is just a character I would love to be friends with! Lucas however, disappointed me:( Even tho he and Rosie had some cute moments, I feel like he was mostly sexually attracted to her. The stuff I actually liked with him (except for his dog) was his cooking (bc guys who cook is really attractive) and that he helped the elderly woman next to Lina’s apartment!

And one thing I haven’t liked about either of Elena’s books is the spicy scene’s. During those scenes in both books I just wanted to stop reading because I found it so awkward🙃🫣

I think it was stupid of Rosie to not tell her dad and brother about her becoming an author and lie to them, I think she should have told them sooner about it. They probably would have supported her in her author hood.

And lastly, I figured out what Ollie worked with really fast, LOVE Ollie<3

LUCAS MARTÍN WHERE TF ARE YOU?????

I've literally been in Spain for 4 months (studying abroad), yet I can't find a Lucas Martín???? HELLO??

I'm telling you, and I never thought I would say this but, my boy Aaron Blackford has got some competition HOLY SHIT- idk which one I prefer so I'll take both.

I want this woman to write my future boyfriend cause these men are fucking perfect 😭😭😭

but I digress, this was so so cute. I want a relationship like Rosie and Lucas. I loved them so much, from the very beginning.

Rosie was so fucking relatable with how shy and introverted she was. like half the time I was thinking "she just like me fr".

I loved seeing Lina and Aaron again in their little appearances, they were as cute as always.

I wish we had seen more from the blooming friendship between Lucas and Aaron, I want them to be besties like Lina and Rosie.

also, finding out Lina and Lucas have a Portuguese side in their family?????? YES PLEASE (it was just a small mention but it made me so happy). I'm Portuguese so I really need to meet them 🙈 PLS MS. ELENA I'M BEGGING. I've never seen Portuguese representation outside of Portuguese books 😭

I can't wait to read more from the Spanish love deception world and obviously any other books Elena Armas puts out.

Also, I'm gonna add this to my favourites list and I know they're technically part of a series and when I love a series I only put the first book in that list representing the entire series but this is a series of standalones so it technically doesn't count.

This book was just adorable. Rosie and Lucas’s relationship is actual goals.
This book fixed the issues I had with The Spanish Live Deception and officially made Elena Armas an automatic read for me!
I loved Rosie’s conflict with trying to write a second book after having her only other book become so popular, like Elena Armas. It made me connect with the character even more than I probably would have otherwise.
I think this book was so also pretty realistic, which I couldn’t say about the first book. Their romance was so believable.
Also, you can never go wrong with dual POV.

Thank you to NetGalley, Atria, and Elena Armas for providing me access to this book.
