This was a right mess. It started well but as soon as the real "plot" (and I'll have to use that term loosely here) started, there was very little that made sense.

The characters are flat and stereotypical. There were so many instances of unnatural speech that should have been removed. The hand-holding from the author was so extreme. I haven't come across this level of over-explaining things to the reader, especially basic things that everyone already knows, for a long time.

Examples: explaining that hair curls straightening out makes it look longer. That the "pit" in a club means the area in front of the stage.

It's just insulting how stupid the reader is thought to be.

This book doesn't seem to know what it's trying to do. It tries to do so many things that nothing is done properly. It's a shifter romance, no wait, it's a portal fantasy, oh sorry it has time travel; hold on, magic and demons...voodoo? Curses? I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things, but you get my point.

If you need a case study in telling instead of showing, this is the book for you. Lack of logical progression too. Otherwise, not worth it.
