Dan Santat is the illustrator. I love his work. This story was cute. I love the hearts and red and pink and flowers and candy of Valentine's. I was still able to enjoy this book. This boy does not like anything about the day. He is Crankenstein. I love the Valentine's play. It turns out the best part of the day is finding someone who can relate to you - a friend.
The artwork was amazing and the story was entertaining. It ends up being a little touching. This is for younger readers.

The writing style isn't my favorite, but the story is adorable. Kids loved saying YUCK right along with Crankenstein all through storytime.
