Boy, does Meghan write hunky, swoon-worthy heroes! Mmmmm :) Aaron was so sweet and totally in love with Amelia even though they had broken up 3 years prior, and she has a boyfriend. He wants her back so he simply reminds her of who he is and how much fun they have together, not ever encroaching on her current relationship. This book was low angst throughout while things built up. A great finish to the series. Aaron was by far my favorite hero in the series. HEA, No cheating.

I decided to try and take a chance and read this knowing what the story was going to be about. I got 9% in and just couldn’t continue. I do still plan to continue reading the other books by this author.

P.S. I did enjoy this cover..

Meghan Quinn is magic. The Other Brother is pure heart. Heartache, heartwarming, and heartfelt.

I am trying not to cheapen my feels about this book but I have to say this...that cover model is gorgeous. My pervy side needed to say that. Next I need to mention the opening comment from my dear friend Racer...I am still rolling my eyes and cracking up. It's not even that funny but it is 110% Racer. Yes, Racer. You know the guy from Twisted Twosome...Speaking of old friends, let's not forget Tucker. sigh...Meghan Quinn is kind enough to keep feeding us crumbs of their stories and I will gladly gobble them up.

Whoops, I got distracted. Hard not to with these three together. Anyhow... The Other Brother. The feels, the depth of meaning, and my poor heart (yes, it always comes back to me). I wanted to cry almost as much as I actually did. Now before you write it off as too touchy feely, this book connected with me in a way it won't with most. I was in my own family, at least it felt like I was, the other brother. (Just go with me...no not the same story but negligence, even accidentally, feels the same)

So while these two have some wildly funny conversations, a "raging" case of unique alcohol choices, and friends who need to be leashed (Racer), they also have heart and big big drama. Meghan Quinn would never finish a book without even a teeny tiny bit of humor and this book has it in spades, canes, and walkers.

The Other Brother may not wipe any of Ms. Quinn hero's from your heart but I know without a doubt Aaron "Smalls" Walters is absolutely in there too taking up space you didn't know you had available.

I am a huge fan of forbidden romance, so I was really drawn to The Other Brother by Meghan Quinn. What could possibly be more forbidden than dating brothers? With this being my first book by Meghan Quinn though, I had no idea what to expect. I have to say that I really enjoyed this story and I am kicking myself for not having read any of Meghan's books before. I will definitely be fixing that in the future!

When Amelia gets the news that her father isn't doing well, she uproots her life to return home and be near him. Leaving her boyfriend and job behind, she knows it is only temporary until he finds a new job and relocates to be with her. But when she arrives back home, she never expects her new neighbor to be the boy that broke her heart 3 years ago. While she has never got over being hurt by him, she finds herself drawn to him and it doesn't help that Aaron is determined to win her back for good. But what she doesn't know is that her boyfriend is Aaron's biological brother.

I really liked these two. I felt so much for Aaron. I know that he hurt Amelia, but he also hurt himself and once we learned more about his reasons I completely understood what he had done. While I didn't like it, I could see why he thought that it was necessary. He broke my heart at times and I just wanted to hug him. Amelia was easy to like as well, and I really loved her with Aaron. Her personality really came out when she let the past go and was able to just enjoy herself with Aaron. Their chemistry was strong and had never diminished, and the connection they shared was undeniable.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. I felt invested in the characters and wanted them to end up together. This book was emotional and sexy, and I enjoyed the slow burn of these two getting to know one another again while the chemistry between them continued to grow. I definitely want to go back and read the books featuring Aaron's friends and I look forward to reading more from Meghan Quinn in the future. This book was great and was so much more than just a forbidden romance. I think readers are going to love this one!

I'm so in love with Aaron and Amelia. Their banter, their ups and downs, it was written so beautifully. You felt the highs and the lows. I can't wait for another Meghan Quinn book

OMG!
SpoilerI loved everything about this book. Aaron Walters is sweet, loyal, caring, and loving. I was so shipping him and Amelia the entire time. So, The Other Brother is basically about second chances. And boy was I rooting for this second chance to happen since the beginning. The Prologue, which is when you're first introduce to Aaron, well the younger version of him, was so sad and heartbreaking. Then years, lots of years, later he's all grown up and definitely regrets the one major decision of his life: Letting Amelia go. Let me just tell you, happy tears and 100% swooning happened while reading this book. Other than the main characters, I absolutely loved Aaron's friends and Amelia's best friend. They were all pure goal. I loved how when Aaron needed his friends (and alcohol) they brought snacks to every occasion, like: hoho's, oatmeal pies, and such. I laughed so hard every time they asked for snacks. I can't wait to read more books from Meghan Quinn - they are just so good!

The Other Brother by Meghan Quinn

Romantic Comedy. Standalone in an interrelated series.
4.5 Stars

If you have been following my blog for the past year or so, you know that I have become a ridiculously huge Meghan Quinn fan, and I’m so excited for boob squeezes in April at Wicked Book Weekend! Meghan is one of the few authors that I will read without reading the blurb, so I went in blind, with a vague idea that it was related to Co-Wrecker, My Best Friend’s Ex and Twisted Twosome. Meghan has since grouped these together as the Binghamton Series, and The Other Brother is the 4th in the series.

The Other Brother features “Smalls” (who is really named Aaron, and he is rarely referred to as Smalls in this installment) the lovable, sweet, big guy with an obsession for Little Debbie that we have met in the three prior books. Aaron is an all-around good guy. He has a well-tended house in a neighborhood where almost everyone is old as dirt, so he helps out all the old people on the street. But he has had a rough life. His mother is an addict who gave both of his brothers up for adoption so they could have a better life, but kept him around to take care of her.
“I’m the one she couldn’t give up. Only, I kind of wish she did…”

He watched as his mom received updates about his brothers and how wonderful they were doing and how they went to college and were given all the opportunities her never got. Poor guy never thought he was good enough. Aaron’s story broke my heart.

His high school sweetheart, Amelia, was the love of his life. She was everything to him, but his self-esteem was so awful that he thought he was holding her back, and broke her heart so she would go away for school.

Amelia is living a great life in New York with her boyfriend Trey, when she gets a call that her dad, who is suffering from dementia, has taken a turn for the worse, and she decides to move back to Binghamton to be closer to him, with her boyfriend expected to follow as soon as he gets a job. Imagine her surprise when she shows up at her rental house only to find her property manager and next-door neighbor is the guy who shattered her heart 3 years earlier, Aaron, and he's gotten 10x hotter. She is NOT in a forgiving mood…yet.

There are a few things that may get some safety people in a twist here. While there wasn’t really cheating, it came pretty close. Plus, Aaron kept a huge secret throughout much of the book.

I think The Other Brother may have the most emotion of the series, because between her father’s condition and Aaron’s shitty upbringing, despite the light and funny times, there was always a little sadness running through. But I just adored Smalls, and I wanted him to be happy so much. He deserved to be the one who gets it all for a change.

Likes:

  • •The dedication at the end.

  • •Emotional and hopeful at the same time.

  • •The scenes with her dad.

  • •Visiting with previous couples.

  • •That these are blue collar guys.

  • •Still has Meghan’s signature humor

  • •I loved Amelia’s best friend.

Dislikes:

  • •The Little Debbie thing was cute and fun at first, but a little too much here.

The Down & Dirty:

Once again, Meghan has blown me away with her talent of making me laugh, cry, smile throughout the read, and hug my kindle in the end. There were some heartbreaking situations in this book and Meghan brought me from tears to laughter in the same paragraph. Now that’s talent. The Other Brother can easily stand alone, but it is so much better after reading the first 3 in the series.
