This sequel was all around quite enjoyable. It managed to create novel and legitimate environmental commentary while simultaneously serving as an engrossing story— exploring in-universe living legends and generally-interesting subplots. This book was not perfect, and in many respects it was inferior to its former, but it stands on its own two feet, not simply being a repeat of The Monkey Wrench Gang, and has earned its place on my shelf.

Might not be as good as MWG, but worth reading just to spend more time with the gang.

Not nearly as good as The Monkey Wrench Gang. Less heart in this book, mostly senseless drivel designed to mock what The Gang stood for. I felt like Abbzug- moved on and ready for this story to end.

I liked this book, but wish I re-read Monkey Wrench Gang before I read this. I've forgotten so much about the characters. Have to read MWG again soon.

Flashes of brilliance in the book are few and far between. Falls very very short of its original "Monkey Wrench Gang" and loses so much of the fun moments that made that book so wonderful and funny. We would have always been left wondering if Abbey had a sequel in him and what happened to these characters; alas, we got to find out.

Not nearly as good as Monkey Wrench Gang, but I still love Ed Abbey anyway.
