Very charming. Likable characters and a fun glimpse into a small mountain town.

3.5 - a fun, quick read. Ave Maria is an exceptionally clueless protagonist but the narration was warm and descriptive
I really enjoyed this one, a nice easy read, fun, the kind of book that makes you smile when you are finished. The characters are well developed and quirky and full of flavor! I can't wait to read the other books in the series. :)
I listened to this on audio and wasn’t sure that I could last the whole way through with the author’s rough and mouthy voice narrating, but it’s one that grows on you. She gets better as the book progresses with fewer mouth sounds too. By the end, I was ready to queue up the second in the series without reservation.
Read this in one day in the car on a road trip. I almost never get to swallow an entire story in such a short amount of time, and I wonder how it affects my enjoyment of a book. I did like this one. It was definitely full of charming oddball characters, which is its great strength. The plot is meandering and the overall takeaway is vague and the morals are muddy, but it’s a fun book to read, especially for women looking for a little escapism. The writing is immersive and expressive. I do wish some of the other elements were tighter and more cohesive.
I loved this story. I appreciated at the glimps Trigiani gave me into small town life in Appalachian Virginia. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was satisfactorily long and detailed, and I didn't want to put it down. Like the author's other books I've read, the main character is humanly flawed, and the supporting characters are quirky and a bit over-the-top. The events are a little bit unrealistic, and there were a few times where the timeline/progression of the story didn't make sense, but I like the dialogue and the feeling of completeness of the story. There is something about the way the author writes keeps sending me to the T section on the library shelf to see if there are any more Adriana Trigiani books available to check out.
The library promised plenty of Southern characters and wacky mountain hi-jinx, but all I got was some squishy love story that played out pretty much how I predicted. All of the loose ends get tied up entirely too neatly. Normally, I like for things to end neatly, but not when I can predict exactly how it will be done. Take note that I'm always trying to figure out how things end, but I rarely ever guess. In the end, I think I got suckered into reading a chick book. Blarg.
