Loved the premise of a repair shop for old books and typewriters. In an alternate universe, I'd love to learn how to fix old books, so that was fun. Played with my parents' old typewriter as a child so the love for typewriters was a connection. Likeable characters. There was a lot of info held back until the end so it wasn't really possible to figure out the mystery.

Admittedly, I stopped short of finishing this book, I only finished about 1/3 of the way through it - but I can't keep reading. It's just really not holding my attention at all. I very much enjoy the author's Scottish Bookshop Mystery series, so I had high hopes, but it just wasn't my flavor of cozy mystery I suppose.

A fun first book in the series with an interesting concept and setting. It took me a little bit to get into it, but once I did I enjoyed it. Would read more if they came my way.

The characters were pretty good, but there were too many plot lines all through the book, and the ending was meant to be original but only managed to make a messy story even messier.

I was enjoying this book despite how slow it was but the end was terrible. We're never introduced to the killer! And even the victim is given so little attention and time. This book is about the shop and Clare and little else.

I won this through Goodreads First Reads Giveaway.

I give this 3.5 stars. I liked it but it was just ok for me. I would still read the next book.
