I wanted to like this book more than I actually do. I loved the concept but it’s execution wasn’t as good as I was hoping. I liked Bethany’s back story—her dad having gone missing and that he’s half fictional was interesting. I liked Owen—impulsive but honest. It would’ve been hard for me to play out another character no matter how much I know or think I know them. I wonder if Nobody really was Bethany’s dad and why he didn’t return to his wife and daughter. I’m sure the reason will be revealed in a future book. One of the things I didn’t like about the audiobook was that whenever the Magi shouted, which was often, the narrator literally shouted. It was way too loud for me especially while driving. Other than that, I liked the audiobook; the narrator did a decent job changing his voice for each character. I appreciated that. Overall I’d recommend this book for fantasy lovers but I think younger readers would enjoy this more than older readers like me.

I wanted to love this book, and by the end I was interested in the next one. I won’t be rushing out to get it anytime soon though, and it won’t be jumping to the top of my reading list. I can’t even put my finger on what it was I didn’t love. I read children’s fantasy often for my job (children’s librarian), but this one just isn’t what I was hoping for. A good book, just not a great one.

I really wanted to like this book because what reader wouldn't want to be able to jump into their favourite story?
Unfortunately, I had to force myself to keep going after each chapter. Even though the premise of the story is good, somehow I was really bored and annoyed while reading. It's a story for kids but since l also read other children/middle grade stories, it just seems that this story wasn't for me.

This was one hell of an adventure and it's only starting, I really liked the characters, their sense of humor and their bravery. The next book is on my list!

This is a very fun book, it's a book about books and fictional characters and it explores some interesting ideas. The characters all felt different from each other and they all had their own character developments and moments. I hope to see more charm in future books

This book wavered between 2.5 and 3 stars. Lots of really fun existential questions thst you dont usually find in kids' books. Tended to be a bit dry and drawn out through somr parts, but the creativity was fun.

maybe it was because I was dealing with personal stuff this month, but I had a hard time keeping up with everything in the plot and I kept getting confused about the characters and which "world" characters were occupying

OhmyGosh! This was an incredible book! I had so much fun listening to the audiobook! The plot was fast, fun, and fantastic. The characters loveable and funny, they made me care about them. I can't wait to start the next book in this series. Absolutely, the best book I've read this year so far!

this was my favorite book for a long time. it's a great book for elementary/middle schoolers and even one that i still enjoy today. the foreign concepts in this book really draw the reader in and bring them into an immersive world
