4.1 AVERAGE

I appreciated the empathetic narrator who seems more keenly aware of humanity than the average economist… but I guess that’s to be expected from someone who writes a book like this. I did expect this book to be more practically helpful in personal finance, which it wasn’t really. It seems like we can’t escape the fact that economists make relatively baseless, sweeping generalizations about people across demographics.. which the author spent the first half of the book criticizing then the second half of the book doing himself. I enjoyed it overall though, and it was a quick, light read.

Some good fundamentals truths for building wealth. I liked the short and snappy chapters. The last couple of chapters were also handy for summarizing learnings and offering insights on how to apply the concepts practically.

An accessible read about how we think about Money and the decisions we make whether good or bad surrounding money. This is not a How to Finance book but rather an a look into how people make financial decisions and qualities of of people who made pretty good ones.

Round up slightly from a 3.75. The book presents some interesting perspectives that make personal finance digestible while addressing the rational and emotional balance I think we all struggle with in investing. A bit long and repetitive at points but a fresh take.

Seems like a great article/blog post that was stretched to book length. I think his points are valid but I caught on pretty quick and then had to force myself to slog (mostly skim) to the end.

Edited to add: I discovered this WAS originally a blog post.

Brilliant read. I needed to hear this and you likely do too.

A must read for anyone interested in learn the reasons for the decisions that we all make regarding financial matters.
