Hrmmmm...I'm very shattered to give a 4 star review, especially after an amazing first book. I was in love with the first, but the second book wasn't as exciting for me. There's just so much Greek mythology that kind of lost me. I suppose somebody who's into that stuff might enjoy this more. I still liked it nevertheless. I love the little tales of his past too. It's so funny how many cultures of the past regarded him as a God. I still want to be Adam. I mean, who wouldn't want longevity!? And of course, I'm still very eager for the third and final book to come out.

Spoiler alert ahead:

So one of my first thoughts was...why was Clara not in this book!? lol. She's constantly referred to, but she's away doing her own vacationing thing after she broke up with Adam, which was saddening. I really do hope she returns.

I'm happy Eve showed up at the end of this book again. Shows she's been keeping watch over Adam, which I liked. And let me reiterate what I said in my previous review, I hope Adam seduces her in the final book! Please let it happen!

Ariadne, that smoking hot babe, I am so glad Adam bedded her multiple times. YESSSSS HAHAHA. I don't know how big of a part she'll play in the 3rd book, or if at all though. I don't mind either way, cause I'm not as attached to her character. She's more of the fling type to me lol.

The author really settled into the rhythm of the character here. I loved the first one and this follow up is even better, I can’t wait to continue the series. Highly recommended!

No spoilers. Love this series. Telling one part will give away other parts of the plot. Just ordered the next in the series, Immortal at the End of the World...

Hellenic Immortal takes place a couple of years after Adam's escape from the compound. Adam has to figure out how to keep an oracle's prediction from happening. She predicts his end, and he can't have that.

We learn that Adam has held some pretty impressive names over his life span. (You'll have to read the book to find them out ;). ) We are also introduced to new breeds of creatures including: satyrs, werewolves, and nymphs.

During Adam's trips into memory lane we get to see Ancient Greece. Greek history and legends is one of my favorite subjects, and one reason why I loved this book even more. If you think Adam's impending doom means he loses his humor, you are wrong. He is just as witty as ever.

I love how when Adam describes past events, he transports you there. Every detail is described, and you get the feeling of the environment. Adam has great story-telling qualities. I just hope he has more stories to share with us.

There is a bit of language in this book, but the scenes are pretty tame. If you want more of Adam's smart ass comments and to see how he's going to survive this problem, you need to read this follow up to Immortal.

Helenic Immortal by Gene Doucette

I really, really, really enjoyed this.

Adam is 50,000 years old and a drunk. In addition, he is very dangerous, sarcastic and lazy. All those features come together in this second book of what is now a five book series.

This book starts with a woman. In this case, it is a woman who seems to be stalking him at casinos in Las Vegas. Adam approaches and gets a hint that she knows something about his earlier life, back when he was the god Dionysus. Adam then learns that this woman has been under surveillance by the FBI, and now he is under FBI scrutiny. He meets an FBI agent named Mike Lycos who seems to have no trouble accessing his third-floor balcony. Then, it's off to an oracle and then Greece as Adam puts together what is fast becoming a deeper mystery that involves his past.

The story is a fun romp. The writing is light and fun. Adam comes across as someone I'd like to have a drink with it, and definitely wouldn't want to piss off.

We get some clues to the central mystery posited in the first book - who is the mysterious red-headed immortal woman that Adam can never seem to get close to?

I read the books out of order. I read Yuletide Immortal, so it was kind of fun seeing what was meant by Adam's references to the Sileni and imps.

I had to go back to my review of Immortal, where I promised that I was going to read the next in order of the series, i.e., this book, Hellenic Immortal. I was surprised to see that my review was posted in 2012.

So, it took me six years to get around to it. I've picked up the next in the series, and I should read it in fewer than six years.
