General Thoughts: I love the writing duo of Piper Rayne. I have read a ton of their books and I've enjoyed every one. I also liked the first in this series. That's why I wanted to read this arc even though I knew going in that accidental pregnancy is rarely a favorite trope of mine. I find it difficult to be done in a way that I like. So that made this book harder for me. I also don't love when books jump around in the timeline a lot and this one had several spots that jumped forward. So those were some major obstacles for this book to overcome.

I really enjoyed Piper Rayne's writing style in this one as I knew I would, and I also liked the characters. But I had a harder time connecting to their romance and liking them together. Basically this book was great and lived up to the typical Piper Rayne magic I think, but because of my own difficulties with the trope, I had a hard time getting into it. I think they worked hard to overcome a lot of the things I don't like about accidental pregnancy, but just not enough for me to like the book.

I can't wait to see what they write next though as I love this author duo and this series. If you like accidental pregnancy or don't mind it, I think you will really enjoy this one.

Steam Meter: ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 Steamy but not overly steamy.

Romantic Tropes
-accidental pregnancy

Piper Rayne's done it again with Something Like Lust! The second installment of the Chicago Grizzlies series is addictively good, and I couldn't put it down from page one on. This is Damon and Adeline's story, and it starts out with him having just found out about her pregnancy. She's apprehensive to start but still understands that she wants her baby to have a father, and things move from there. These two go from veritable strangers to co-parenting in a short span of time, but the journey we see them on changes them both.

These characters! Both the last book and this one has this variety of characters that I immediately felt invested in. Adeline is this girl next door sort of middle school teacher that's an everywoman type whom I loved as Damon's counterpart. And Damon? He's pretty awesome in this book. I enjoyed watching him transform from this not exactly appealing womanizer to a dad, and it's just everything. He made me smile and laugh and then drove me a little nuts too (you'll know what I mean when you read it), but it's this combination that made me fall in love with his character. He surprised me in the best way possible.

This is a sports romance must read that's well written and utterly unputdownable. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that all I wanted to do was read this book every spare moment I had. If you love sports romances, then this book and series is not to be missed.

After a one night stand, Adeline finds out she is pregnant with the football star's baby.
Damon has a bit of a playboy rep but he is so much more than that. From the start Damon did the right thing. He has some issues that keep him from committing. But the love he has for his little family is beautiful.

I really loved that Adeline and Damon really got to know each other and put their child first, all the while battling the chemistry that is so obvious between them.

I could not put it down. This was such a well written surprise pregnancy book. We got to see them together during the pregnancy & after their baby was born and I loved we got to spend so much time with them.
The authors wrote a heartfelt, fun and lovely story that just kept getting better and better. It might be my new favorite read by them. (Sorry Miles and Bryce)

Something Like Lust is the second book in Piper Rayne’s Chicago Grizzlies series. This book tugged on my heartstrings and had me swooning over Damon Siska. He may very well be my favorite fictional football player that the author duo, Piper Rayne, has written.

Damon Siska has a reputation with the ladies, but he never expects one of his one-night stands to text him later, saying she’s pregnant with his baby. Now, Damon has to prove to the FMC, Adeline, that he’s willing to step up and prove to her that he can be there for her and the baby. The issue is Damon is not looking for a relationship, and Adeline is hesitant to trust Damon.

I loved both MCs in this book. They were complete opposites of one another. Adeline came from a small town, and she was a middle school teacher, while Damon was a famous football player playing for the Chicago Grizzlies. He also came from a rich family, and they had certain standards for Damon. Adeline was strong and sassy and knew how to handle someone like Damon, and I loved how she handled Damon’s father when he came around. I loved Damon due to his devotion and protectiveness, not only with the baby but with Adeline, too. This man won over my heart with how he was with Adeline and later with the baby. I may have melted into a puddle the instant Damon met his baby for the first time. Seriously, it was the sweetest moment in the story, and I loved how he continued to be there for Adeline, even though he wasn’t into getting into anything serious with Adeline. He has his reasons, and the author duo, Piper Rayne gave Damon a backstory of why he’s hesitant about being in a relationship, and it’s a tear-jerker.

I’m one reader who loves Surprise Pregnancies in my romance stories and I absolutely love reading characters like Damon that do a 360 in the book after he realizes he’s in love. Another thing I liked about this book was how the other Chicago Grizzlies players played a part in the story and put Damon in his place a few times. There were so many heartfelt moments, but also funny moments, too. This book may be hard to top since Damon won over this reader’s heart, and I loved how Adeline and Damon got their HEA, but I know Piper Rayne will deliver yet another amazing read in the last book in the series.

The author duo, Piper Rayne, definitely has a reader for life. I love their sweet, funny contemporary romance reads and look forward to what they have planned for 2024.

Spice Level 2🌶🌶

This book was different than most romance novels I've read. I have to actually say I enjoyed it! Even though it starts out with a pregnancy between the two, it didn't start with any sexual scenes. This book was a slow burn, and I usually don't like them, but I really enjoyed how this was written.

Damon had a one night stand six months ago with Adeline. That ended up with her pregnant and him finding out through text message. They fight the attractive between the two of them most of the book so they can co-parent their child. They are both set in being the best parents for their child. Living together between both of their places. Damon was such a caring man during Adeline's pregnancy, the farther along she became. Damon surprised everyone her knew once his child was born. The way you could feel his love for his baby was absolutely the sweetest thing ever. It made my ovaries melt a little 😍😍 I was rooting for this couple the whole time. Even though the past keeps Damon's from moving forward with his feelings, it took losing what he wanted most (and a lot of pep talk from friends and Adeline's mom) to finally realize his true feelings.

This book will have your last parts wishing for another baby. It did mine, lol. Sadly, my husband said no... I'm not done with that really yet, though 😉

I received this book as an ARC, but I would recommend it to anyone who likes surprise pregnancies. I can't wait to read the next story this author comes out with. I'll go along with the hastag the author picked out. Well, Damon picked out for himself in the book. #Damonstolemyheart?

I’m not sure there will ever be a Piper Rayne book that I do not love. I love each any every book immediately after starting it.

Damon and Adeline have such a good friendship/co-parent relationship turned lovers. They have to work through a lot of stuff to make their romantic relationship work, but the friendship came so naturally to them.

I love an accidental pregnancy storyline and this one was done so well and fun. I loved how the story progressed and the timeline where we saw the pregnancy, the birth and a decent amount of time with the baby before the book ended!

I can’t wait to see what’s next!

I love Damon and Adeline so much! Damon wins you over right from the get go, and you beg and plead with Adeline to keep him. He's the dream girl dad and their story is my favorite so far.

Even if you're not into the surprise pregnancy trope, I feel like this one was really well done. Adeline is pregnant at the start, Damon gets told early on, and the baby is born 50% into the book. Then it's focusing on Damon and Adeline figuring out how to best co-parent. These two are fire!

For a book with lust in the title I didn't find it to be very sexy but it honestly wasn't a problem for me. At first I wasn't sure what to think about all the time jumps but I actually liked them. It felt realistic for them to be taking that time to get to know each other. Damon was so dumb for not knowing that he was in love with Adeline. He was such a good dad and seeing him with Clove was adorable. They work really together and the proposal at the end was really cute.

I received an arc from valentine pr.
