Emily Henry

4.22 AVERAGE

funny hopeful lighthearted fast-paced

Without question, one of her best. It hit all the right notes, gave each character and plot point its appropriate weight, and kept you in it for the whole ride. Interesting set up, interesting follow through!

It was fine. A decent read. From the 4.27 rating I expected something a little bit more, but I enjoyed it

3.5? 4? i find it difficult to rate this book. i really enjoyed most of it but the lack of communication, self-destructive (?) moments and nora’s repeated views of herself as some kind of stuck up ice queen did dock a decent amount at the end there.
the tension buildup was great, and the banter genuinely had me laughing which doesn’t often happen when i’m reading. was hoping she’d talk more about asheville so i could decide if she had actually BEEN to WNC or just researched a lot though.
overall: better than happy place, not as good as beach read

5 ⭐️

"You're in books. Of course you don't have a life. None of us do. There's always something too good to read."

Why have i been sleeping on Emily Henry books?! About halfway through this I ordered four more because she is no doubt an auto-buy author more me. I cannot rave enough about how well this book was written. The story had me hooked from page one and I immediately fell in love with Nora. She is cold, dedicated to her job, and portrayed as the polar opposite of every FMC ever written in a romance book. I LOVED IT. She’s a shark.

Charlie and Nora work in the book industry and have a brief run in. (Spoiler - it doesn’t go well.) Two years later, her sister forces her to take a vacation to Sunshine Falls and she runs into non other than her enemy, Charlie.

This book is centered around the responsibility we feel for family. Nora’s has always been a caretaker for her sister and Charlie is giving up his happiness to return home to take care of his parents. The story line was fresh, the banter was exquisite, and I absolutely loved how deep their love for each other was. Easily a five star read!
