Vanity & Shame. That's all it was. There's an ickiness to this book overall that leads me to still not being able to fully parse my feelings toward it. And yet, 5 stars.

This was an interesting read about how people of power can affect those they are meant to coach and inspire given the opportunity. I was expecting it to be a bit more unhinged on the main character's end. She definitely wasn't making healthy decisions, but it felt like more of a story of an unhealthy, unhappy and toxic power couple of professors with intense insecurities and using their position of power to help fill the void of those insecurities.

Really enjoyed the first half of this book... Then it took a wild turn that culminated in a pretty silly & hastily assembled conclusion that made me wonder if I took the premise of this novel too seriously when I started reading it.
