The Liz Taylor ring is the story of a troublesome ring that ties a family together and breaks them apart over many decades. There’s an aura of mystery surrounding the ring and I was eager to learn the truth about it. I enjoyed the setup of the story and the theme of “many things being true at the same time”.
The chapters flip back and forth between different characters’ perspectives and over decades. Even the character of “the ring” has a couple of chapters. The constant shifting was not difficult to navigate at all and gave me insight into each character’s feelings and motives.
I disliked most of the characters in the beginning and for most of the book. A lot of character growth happens at the end where everyone is suddenly way more likeable.
I thought the story would be more about the mystery of the ring but it was more about the dysfunction of the family and their relationships with each other. This book was funny and sad and overall a satisfying lighter read. I enjoyed the author notes at the end.

A tense and interesting family drama. I loved the dynamics between the siblings- it felt like reading a soap opera. This book also really touched on birth order and personality- the oldest daughter feels like she needs to be perfect, she's used to taking care of everyone, etc. The middle son is trying to keep everyone together while dealing with his own drama and the youngest is the "wild one" because no one ever really paid attention to her throughout her life.

I loved the mystery of the ring - the back and forth of real vs. fake, the variations on what happened to it and when - but ultimately the story fell flat as none of the characters were likeable. Truly, NONE.
Hated the s characters in the beginning but they grew on me. I found a LOT of this book to be repetitive and felt like the actual story could’ve been 150-200 pages at most. I did love the family drama aspect but because it was so repetitive, the drama got stale.

Despite the title, and a few references, this was not a book about Taylor's ring. But it was a book about several love stories. Between man and wife, siblings, father and children, a mother's love, teenage love, etc.. The way the family dynamics we grow up in influence our relationships going forward. It is about true love, sacrifice, and forgiveness. This was a quick read as the author moves the story right along. Will be checking out this author again!
