This was an intriguing family drama with a bit of mystery and romance thrown in. At first it was difficult to keep all of the different POV's and characters straight, but as things came together it wove into quite an intricate story. The Schneider siblings uncover secrets and face truths about themselves and those that they love through the course of the novel and the sibling dynamic was very relatable. Unfortunately the pacing of the story was on the slower side and I never really warmed to any of the characters. Much of the drama that is so pivotal to the plot, like Courtney and Addy's relationship, is resolved fairly quickly and easily and it felt like a let down after so much build up. The ending especially felt rushed, but it was ultimately still an entertaining novel. Fans of old Hollywood and family drama will love this one!

Story 3 stars

I both read and listened to The Liz Taylor Ringand Cassandra Campbell did a great job bringing all of these characters to life. There were times when it was difficult to determine who was speaking though and I also didn't particularly like her portrayal of Diego.

CW: alcohol and gambling addiction, discussion/suspected infidelity, strained parental and sibling relationships, financial instability, theft/loss of property, Alzheimer’s

An achingly beautiful story of endless love, loss, and heartbreaking redemption.

Addy and Nathan are siblings. Well, so is Courtney, but they forget about her. A lot. On purpose. Being the baby of the family and always being just a bit different than them, they try hard to only deal with her when absolutely necessary. But when Addy gets a phone call avout a safe deposit box belonging to her father in the Cayman Islands, the three siblings are suddenly thrust together in a war on what exactly to do with the contents of the box. The Krupp diamond. The very one Richard Burton gifted to Elizabeth Taylor and their father Ritchie gifted to their mother Lizzie.

Though each sibling has a distinct reason for wanting the diamond for themselves, the biggest issue may just be surviving each other until they decide. Throw in a few surprises and the siblings find out just how much they do need each other. Told in alternate timelines of now and the 70's to 00's that follows their parents epic love story, This book was so much more than I was expecting in a massively good way. Part love story. Part sibling redemption story. This book was utterly engrossing and a beautiful perfect stroll through the Taylor Burton marriage and the story of Lizzie and Ritchie. The most amazing discovery was at the back of the book. Every single name, story, and detail in the book the author revealed where she got that from Elizabeth Taylor's own life. It was an absolute wow moment to see just how much research was done and how thoroughly engrossed in her life the author was. I can't speak highly enough about this one!! Expected publication date February 1, 2022.

Thank you to NetGalley, Brenda Janowitz, and Harlequin Trade Publishing for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
mysterious tense medium-paced

It's a story about a family, where each member has their own problems, and the mystery behind a ring given to a mother, Lizzie, from her husband, Richie. It's almost a mystery novel about what happened to the ring. The life of Elizabeth Taylor is used as inspiration throughout the book and at the end it goes into detail about how it was used in each chapter. I loved Janowitz's last book about Grace Kelly and I loved this one too!

Another Janowitz GEM! And no I'm not using gem in the context of the Liz Taylor ring or diamond...this book was truly a gem all on its own!

Janowitz has rapidly becoming a favorite author of mine. Her stories are all unique, but based on past icons we can all agree were legendary women of their time and have transcended that time to become icons for us all. In this story Janowitz brings us the Schneider family and the retelling of the history of their family's Liz Taylor ring. We bounce between the past with Lizzy and Richie's love story and the present, their three adult children navigating life after their parents' deaths.

The story was wonderful, vivid and relatable in many aspects, but I think the moment I fell in love with this book, was reading the author's note. Janowitz spoke of her own family heirlooms, how she can remember who gave her what piece of jewelry, for what occasion and how she will wear certain pieces or combinations of them all for whatever she may need that day. I connected to this deeply! My sister and I inherited our grandmother's jewelry and when I need to feel my Umma with me, or need her poise during a tough time, or just a reminder how strong the Berry women are - I will wear something of hers. Some costume, some precious, all priceless.

My Nana, who is nearly 94 and still rocks all her jewels on a daily basis even started a tradition with her granddaughters of creating our own heirloom pieces for birthdays or holidays and each piece I have from her mean so much more to me than the price tag they came with. Like Janowitz, I remember each special moment with her, picking them out, the reason behind each piece and I hope to be blessed with a daughter one day to share them with. Thank you for indulging my own experience with this review, but that is the beauty and artistic gift Janowitz holds. She can take a story and make it reach places you may have never even thought about.

You won't be disappointed with this absolutely special story - pick this up when you need something relatable, real, special and rare. Thank you Brenda for yet another fabulous story that your readers can connect to in such a special way!
