Well I laughed and I cried. This was such a good book.
I feel so awful for Meg and how she tried to cope with so much while trying to understand the world She's living in. Such a brave strong-willed girl. Ben and Maria were such a breath of fresh air on their insights of life.

I remember reading this when I was younger and it’s a great read for 9-11/12.

I read this book as a child, re read it before giving it to my daughter after the death of a close family friend. An amazingly touching book, with insights into how a child/young teen deals with illness and death.
I haven't read this book in years, but I recently purchased a copy to read to my daughter one day. This was a favorite of mine as a young girl, and never failed to move me to tears. A beautiful story about family, friends, and a young girl dealing with the impending death of her big sister.

What a lovely, sweet, sad, beautifully written book. I love Lowry’s other books so I’m not surprised this one is so good too. It was recommended to me by my 12yo stepdaughter and it made it extra special to think about how she might have experienced the book in the context of her own life with her sister.
I read this book over and over when I was in junior high - I'm in my 30's now...I really need to read it again!
Vivid. Haunting. Authentic. Heartwarming. Intriguing. Beautiful.
