So this is a good story, although I felt the pace was a bit slow. I guess that is to be expected with building and setting up a new world. Once the main problem was established though I found this book predictable.

Yikes.... This book is just how I remember reading it the first time.

THE POSITIVES

I really enjoyed the main characters, Cyra and Akos. I think they had really good character development because over the course of the book we got to see how there mindsets changed and how they changed as a person.

Especially Cyra because we see her at the beginning blindly following her brother’s commands to at the ending where she rebels her brother and joins the rebels.

THE NEGATIVES

First off the world that the story takes place in was very simple. It sounded like a generic world set in space, we didn’t really get to see more depth to this universe except this is there name and one thing about the planet.

Second thing, the powers that the characters contained. Again these were kind of generic like they reminded me of the powers in Shatter me, and like the X men powers. I didn’t think they were that creative and I’ve seen this before.

The last and Final thing is the plot and the pace. The beginning of the book was very slow and it took me forever to get through this beginning because there wasn’t much happening. It didn’t start getting more face paced until the middle of the plot. Also I feel like the plot has so much potential but then it flopped on its face. The plot of the story wasn’t entirely clear until we got towards the ending, I felt like it was just a bunch of events mashed together.

Overall I feel like this story could have been better with a few adjustments.

It took me almost a full month to read this book. It was sooooo sloooowwww. That didn't stop me from giving it 4 stars though.

It's definitely intriguing and different which is why I think I liked it. Some parts are hard to follow and don't really make sense until the end.

Cryas point of view, and her character as a whole, was way more appealing to me that Akos. Her character develops so much in this book it's unreal. You see her go from being scared and unsure of herself to brave and unrelenting. This shows through her current gift.

Would I recommend this book? Probably not. If someone asked me about it I would tell them to read at their own risk. Just because I liked it doesn't mean others will as well.

In my opinion, the story itself wasn’t as fascinating as I thought it would be. However, I did like the characters a lot. They were the main reason I finished this book.

It took me waaaay to long to finish this book. It want quite boring until just before 200 pages into it. I kept going based on who the author was. It eventually got interesting, but it's asking a lot to have people keep going on blind trust.
Also, there was some world building, planet building, but so much still unbuilt.

Not quite the same thrill as reading Divergent for the first time. Unique storyline, but felt like it took forever to finish, and want to finish, this book. Not bad, just not enough interest for me to continue the series.
