I didn't know what to expect when I first started this series. I never thought I would care for this characters as much as I do. I even rooted for Willie and Coy, who somehow found a place in my heart. I wanted Jerry and Erica to have their happily ever after, especially after everything they have been through in these books. I wanted the villains dead, so they could finally be happy
but if you've read this book, you know that Erica died. I didn't expect her to die. I really hoped that Jerry would kill the Skinners, so they could finally walk into the sunset with Chewy, like this:

What I wonder is what will happen to Jerry next. He was so full of rage at the end. Jerry, since the first book, was still a hopeful person. The ending leaves me wondering: Is he going to get revenge from Alasis? Is he going to completely lose all his morals; no longer be that nice guy that we've come to love? Can he go back to simply being the post-apocalyptic nomadic warrior we saw in the first book?

Despite a certain moment - AKA the ending - in this book, this is a great conclusion.
