Great read, well written and has sparked curiosity in me to research the Tudor period to find how much of this narrative is rooted in history.
At times the dialogue jumped around a bit and I found I had to go back a paragraph or two to figure out who was addressing whom but this was a minor thing and probably owed more to my inattention than any failing of the author.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book which despite it's length moved along at a good pace, looking forward to reading the next two installments.

A slow moving, lyrical book that lets you feel the currents of history tugging at the feet of its characters and calling in the wind. There were a whole lot of characters called Thomas, and it took me awhile to get used to being able to tell who was speaking. I also definitely was not keeping track of all the different characters as much as perhaps I should have, but despite all that, I did enjoy the book. I think Mantel did a good job of showing women as real people and how they could exert power and find joy in these times, as well as how treacherous court was. I liked the familial aspect of the book, and Cromwell’s constantly buzzing household full of people with genuine affection for him and vice versa.
